What’s in the Cards for 2010?

As I was cleaning out my desk at Washington Spaces on Dec. 4, the day they folded us without warning, I found these awesome cards I had picked up some time ago at the New York International Gift Fair.

That now describe perfectly my sentiments as I begin a new career as a freelance writer and blogger. Thank you Binth, for such a lovely expression. This cheeky company with delightful designs (available at Paper Source stores across the region) also gave me a sample pack of playing cards, which I unearthed that day I had to pack everything and leave. So if anyone can tell me what’s in the cards for 2010, I could surely use these clever ones to translate.

This is the first official post at DC by Design, following a year and a half of leading the blog for Washington Spaces. My wish is to remain a voice in the thriving — and ever creative — design community of our nation’s capital.

Help me, won’t you? Let me know where the coolest spaces are, and the most fabulous designers behind them. Where are all the greatest home retailers, and the area’s master craftsmen who are making our homes beautiful, one distinctive chair and table at a time? I can’t wait to find them all in the city where I grew up. Happy New Year.

Just found your blog and read through the entire thing! I lived in the DC metropolitan area my entire life, thinking that there was nothing in there for me. Now that I live in the desert with my military husband, I realized how good I had it! Thank you for opening my eyes to my gorgeous hometown!
