After so many shelter magazines have died, there are only a handful left, and two of the best are Traditional Home and House Beautiful. Each magazine recently named two local designers on its list of 20 young designers to watch in 2010, which gives our region 10 percent of the 40 big up-and-comers around the country!
So today, let’s start with Traditional Home, which names Erin Paige Pitts of Maryland and Paul Corrie of DC on its second annual young designer list in the current issue.
Erin Paige Pitts:
Pitts, whose own home on Gibson Island was featured in the magazine last summer, is particularly good at creating a highly designed house that is nonetheless kid-friendly. Here style is stately yet refreshing, and highly approachable. Take a look:
Paul Corrie
Paul Corrie, a recovering attorney, represents a completely different point of view. He’s masculine and urban, with a strong tilt toward the classical. I just love the edge to his designs.
Tomorrow, we’ll check out House Beautiful’s best young designers from DC, J.D. Ireland and Sally Steponkus. It’s so thrilling to see local design get the national stage!
