Pop quiz: Where do DC’s best designers, including Jose Solis Betancourt, Skip Sroka, Michael Roberson, and Darryl Carter, turn for ultra cool furnishings? They go to Atlanta, where Michelle Bradley of Bradley Hughes has much to offer.
“Thank God I wasn’t good at academics,” Bradley says. “I’m so lucky I love what I do.” But she does have a knack for math: her business racked up $3.5 million in sales last year, during one of the worst recessions in history.
Bradley, whom I’ve known via email and phone for a couple years now, recently sent me photos of the spaces she designed for Spanx, the lady’s undergarment company, in Atlanta. No, it’s not here in DC, but it’s a spectacular example of how cool her furniture is, and why it’s attracting DC designers. The offices are featured in this month’s issue of Interior Design, but Bradley Hughes didn’t get any credit. So here it is — Michelle’s company provided all the upholstered pieces, tables, and mirrors.

An office common area. The interior designers complemented the Bradley Hughes furniture with items from Anthropologie and area rugs by the Rug Conpany.

I saved the best for last: the office of CEO Laurie Ann Goldman. Lots of glass here, but none on HER ceiling....
As it happens, I’m wearing the oh-so-comfortable Spanx Bra-llelujah! as I write this — their apparel is the best tool in any woman’s fashion arsenal.
The topic even came up in conversation tonight, when I ran into a former colleague, who had a baby on Dec. 28. She looked fabulous, as always — no trace of baby bump, and her face was glowing. It’s a ruse, my sleep-deprived friend said, chalking it all up to “makeup and Spanx.” You go, girl.

Wow, thanks for sharing. That kitchen is to die for!
Didn’t get any credit…how is that even possible??? The furniture is to die for!!! I am especially loving the chairs with the little skull trio. Elegant and a little funky. This will be my obsession for the day! Thanks, Jennifer

I’ll be in Atlanta in July for business – will definitely have to make time to visit. Great eye candy!
How gorgeous! I wish I worked at an office that looked as glamorous as that. Jennifer I LOVE your blog. Cheers to new beginnings!
Why can’t III work in an office as cool as that? I’d be so much more inspired on a daily basis!
