I’m lucky enough to have developed friendships with my sister’s friends over the years (and she with mine too). So Kathy has this really good friend from U.Va., Charlotte Geary — a talented photographer and young mom who is VERY good at keeping her friends updated on Facebook. WELL, she’s about to have her second baby, a girl, and she just posted these delicious photos (remember, she’s a photographer!) of the new nursery at her home in Reston.
Ok, my nursery never looked like this.
Here’s Charlotte’s story: “We live in a townhouse on Lake Anne in Reston. The whole house has floor-to-ceiling windows that feature the beautiful lake and forest around us. I wanted to put together a nursery that would keep that calming feel of the outdoors, while still feeling feminine and fresh. The color scheme of purple, aqua, and yellow was inspired by a print by my [UK-based] artist sister-in-law, Bex Glover. We used a $2,000 budget, and stayed pretty close to that.”
Here’s what baby gets to see through the windows:
What I love about this room is that Charlotte clearly scoured so many online and on-the-ground sources to furnish the nursery, as opposed to getting some sort of Room-in-a-Box from one of those massive baby retailers, so the look is totally her own.
Here are the details:
Charlotte’s due in a couple of weeks — what a lovely setting to take the little girl home to. Great work, Charlotte!
