Smell the Roses — At the Georgetown Garden Tour

I can NOT get enough of this weather this week — just glorious. That’s what makes it the perfect time for a garden tour. The annual Georgetown Garden Tour is tomorrow, where you can peruse seven pitch-perfect gardens as you get a peek behind all those stately row houses. The organizers were nice enough to send me some images to whet your appetite.

Your $35 ticket includes a tea at Christ Church from 2 to 4, and there is also a boutique, where you can buy some gorgeous porcelain from my friends Alison and Bo of Middle Kingdom (who also live in a house in Georgetown). You can also buy Venus fly traps for the kids!

The best deal on your ticket will be entrance to the gardens at Evermay, the biggest estate in Georgetown, which sits on 3.5 acres and whose grounds have six fountains. Here’s a taste:

The seven gardens on the tour were built by notable landscape architecture firms, including one of my all-time favorites,  Oehme van Sweden.

Happy Spring, everyone!

  1. Beautiful landscaping – everything is just perfect! You can sense such relaxing atmosphere just by looking at the photos.

  2. Beautiful pictures! Another nice garden: Dumbarton House. You’re right, it’s just the best time of year for outdoor sightseeing. In another month it’ll be impossibly hot.
